Now he is in Durango sharing a duplex with Marcos. He has spent most of his time in Chicago or New York, huge cities. Recently though he was on a research project in Antarctica so he learned about the quiet, something very new to him. He spent large spans of time alone, also. His self-awareness had grown, though as an architect he did have a great deal of preparation in design. To apply that to himself was new though and he found that memories erupted often while in silence. He had trouble calming his mind as though the rough seas of the ship in a storm were happening all over again. He had taken the ship on his way and they, he and Marcos had sung and played guitar to calm themselves coming all the way from Vancouver. The night before he left the city for water cruise, he evaluated the six month journey, all the time away from home. He went for jaunts of a month or two before, to oversee or finish a building but this was the first time to stay long term and without a way to leave easily. He sat at his hotel restaurant with a penthouse view planning the luxury of time. He would learn later that it took more than planning. |
